Our School's History...
Since its humble beginnings in the Fall of 1983, East Montessori Learning Center focused its approach to education around the philosophical principle of "Educating the Human Potential". This great journey began with 25 students (Children's House level) in a small commercial suite. Mr. Francisco X. Portillo (Principal/Administrator) and Mrs. Ines F. Portillo (Academic Coordinator) successfully managed what began as a sole-proprietor private institution that bases its mission on the Montessori model of education, into an incorporated non-profit organization which later became New World Montessori School. The school has grown to its current state of capacity to include a little over 100 students and employs 15 staff members. Our up-to-date class levels include students from the "Nido" to our Upper Elementary. We will continue to strive in providing quality Montessori education to the El Paso area residents for many years to come. Our curriculum is focused on promoting independence, self-discipline, and exploration. We emphasize hands-on learning, self-directed activities, and personalized instruction. We are proud to say that some of our first generations of alumni are now part of our parent community by having their own offspring to be counted in our current student body. We strive to provide a learning environment that is not only engaging and stimulating, but also one that fosters a strong sense of community.
